Global dog population
- The global dog population is estimated to be at 900 million
- Although many families around the world keep dogs as pets, according to the World Health organisation (WHO) around 75 - 80% of the world's dogs are free-range
- Free-range dogs are those that are not contained. They can be stray dogs, feral dogs, street dogs or wild dogs
- Stray dogs are different from feral dogs in that they were once socialised by humans before becoming free-range. Feral dogs are raised without human socialisation
